What is mentor?

Getting a right startup mentor is an important step to take your Startup to the next level. As an founder, you need a mentorship from the industry experts having wide connections to provide you with a valuable resource in building a strong foundation for your Startup.

Running a business can be tough, more so, if you’re doing it alone. It takes a huge commitment and the knack for innovation to build a startup from scratch.

Finding the right support system is essential to guide budding founders to scale their startups for growth. An exceptional and innovative mentor understands your Startup goals and can advice you to reach them with tried-and-tested ideas and expertise specific to your industry.

Role of Mentor in Startups?

What do Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Warren Buffet have in common? Apart from being successful entrepreneurs, these were guided and supported by their business mentors at one point of time.

We seek following qualities in Mentors for the benefit of the members of Chamber of Startups:-

  • Mentor should understand the legislative framework for new business start-ups
  • Mentor should be Creative Problem Solver
  • Mentor should have wide connections
  • Mentor should be empathetic to young and aspirational people
  • Mentor should have a quality to create a strategy that fits the needs, talents, skills and desires of the Startups that push Startups towards new heights.
  • Mentor should encourage Startups To Step Out of Comfort Zone
  • Enjoy working in a benevolent capacity
  • High proficiency level and knowledge in all aspects of business creation
  • Thorough understanding of business management and organisation
  • Mentor should have good listener and should focus on problems / hurdles of Startups and taking part in the conversation
  • Mentor should be expert of the industry in which Startup belongs
  • Mentor should be excited to share his/her knowledge and / or connections with the startups

Benefits to Mentors:-

  • There will be no Financial Commitment between both the parties i.e. Chamber Mentors
  • CSEC will provide the details of the startups who wish to have you as their Mentor
  • Mentors are free to negotiate their financial terms directly with the Startups
  • Mentors are required to maintain the confidentiality related to the business of the Startups
  • Mentors profile along with your photographs will be published in the website of the Chamber of Startups
  • Mentors articles along with the photographs shall be published in the monthly / weekly newsletter of Chamber
  • Mentors will be covered in the e-magazine of Chamber of Startups i.e. "Startupnomics"
